Scott has just completed the video component for a vast Puccini opera
The Girl of the Golden West, which opens at the Sydney Opera House tonight. Though one of his lesser known works, Puccini felt that this epic opera, set in the goldmining wild west of America, was his finest. Opera director Nigel Jamieson asked Anderson to make his vision come to life turning the opera into a cinematic homage to black and white film and spaghetti westerns. Anderson's video 'trailer' for the overture opens the opera and his video is present throughout the show using front and rear video projections across the walls, ceiling, floor and furniture to transform the set, befitting the onstage melodrama whilst also playing with tricks of forced perspective and illusion.
The Girl of the Golden West runs at the Sydney Opera House from July 14th to the 6th August.
